This site is a copy of the book published in 1909 by Mr Gregory, the headmaster of the village school. Clearly a labour of love, it offers a view of the history of Eltham from an Edwardian perspective, before the explosive growth of the 20th century.
On 5 December 2009 the Eltham Society held a commemorative exhibition of memorabilia and Village Eltham pictures at Eltham Church of England School, where Mr Gregory lived when he wrote the book. It was very well attended, including around sixty people who brought along their copies of the book and were photographed together outside Mr Gregory's house in the school playground.
